Unit 1 Women of achievement(教学设计) 擢英中学 林琳 Period 4 Using language 1. Analysis of the teaching materials This period comes from Unit 1 Women of achievement, New Senior English for China Student’s Book 4. The topic of this unit is “women of achievement”. The brief introductions of different great women in Warming up and a detailed text about Jane Goodall give students much information and encouragement. This period consists of three parts -- reading, speaking and writing the emphasis will be placed on helping students to acquire information from the reading part and then use it in their speaking and writing. 2. Teaching aims Knowledge aims To acquire information about Lin Qiaozhi from the reading. To master the words and expressions using to describe a successful woman. Ability aims To be able to talk about a successful woman. Be able to write down a description of the woman talked about. Emotion aims To become interested in achievements of great women Be inspired by their stories. 3. Teaching key points 1. Get students to read the passage and learn the structure. 2. Get students to learn the words and expressions to talk about successful women. 4. Teaching difficult points 1. Develop students’ reading ability. 2. Enable students to write down the description. Analysis of the students and learning methods Senior students are active in thinking and interested in performing. They have already got much information from the text in this unit and are familiar with some famous women. So they must be interested in talking about this subject. Whats more, on the one hand, the students have gradually developed their ability to catch information and deal with information, but they still have some difficulty thinking and expressing themselves in English; on the other hand, they are always willing to take an active part in the activities.
