Basic Search mode allows the user to enter a full query in one step, using ‘plain’ English. No need to know or enter specialized syntax. Find Citation is used to quickly locate a specific citation when only parts of the citation are known. Can also search using either the Unique Identifier (same as the PubMed ID) or the DOI (digital object identifier) – especially useful for InterLibrary Loan. If the database has Search Tools, they will be accessible through this link. Remember that Journals@Ovid and Books@Ovid do NOT have search tools as part of either database and this tab will NOT be visible if searching either of these databases as a single file. The Search Fields link displays the list of allowable search fields for the database or a combined list of all the fields if doing a multi-file search. Each field is a hyperlink which when clicked, displays the information about the particular field. Advanced Ovid Search contains all the functionality of previous versions of advanced search and allows for command-level syntax searching.
