However more and more pathogens become resistant to the existing antibacterial agents, so it is urgent to develop the novel ones. FtsZ, the key protein which can mediate bacterial cell division is expected to become a potential antimicrobial target. The sequent difference from human microtubule proteins makes it possible to design the selective inhibitors targeting bacteria FtsZ. In this review, the research on novel antibacterial agents targeting FtsZ is summarized in the following aspects: human microtubule protein inhibitors, GTP analogues, natural products and wide screening of the
