论《喜福会》的终极关怀精神《喜福会》是美国著名的华裔女作家谭恩美的代表作品。从著名华裔作家谭恩美的畅销小说《喜福会》入手,通过小说中四对母女之间的心理隔膜、感情冲突及种种爱爱怨怨讨论了中国文化与美国文化的差异与碰撞,以及这两种截然不同的文化之间在母女情深中的相互兼容。Comments on Ultimate Concern in The Joy Luck Club Abstract:The Joy Luck Club is written by Amy Tan, a famous Chinese American writer. In the novel, the four Chinese mothers and their American-born daughters have experienced cultural conflict, cultural understanding and blending. From the psychological estrangement and emotional conflicts between four groups of mother and daughter in The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, this paper discusses the difference and clashes between Chinese and American Culture, and the cultural compatibility completed in mother and daughter’s love juxtaposed between these two cultures. Key words: cultural difference cultural identity compatibility 1.Short introuduction of The Joy Luck Club 1.1 Acheivement of the book In April 1989, The Joy Luck Club made the New York Times bestseller list, where it remained for seven months. Tan was named a finalist for the National Book Award for fiction and National Book Critics Circle Award. She received the Bay Area Book Reviewers Award for fiction and the Commonwealth Club Gold Award. 1.2 Introuduction of the story The Joy Luck Club, by Amy Tan tells a story of four pairs of mothers and daughters and their discovery into understanding each other. Four mothers, four daughters, four families whose histories shift with the four winds depending on whos saying the stories。The mothers are immigrants from China and their daughters are American born children who are tired of hearing the same stories of their mothe’r s struggles in China. Each mother-daughter couple shows a deep desire to remember old fashioned customs and to make a better life for the next generation. 2.cultural difference within The Joy Luck Club Huge and deep gaps between two generations and two different cultures, what described in this book make me rethink the meaning of time and life.
