Unit3,L3 Weddings I feel it an honor to stand here. I `ve been teaching for about 14 years. I know I `m far from excellence. But it`s a chance of challenging and improving myself. I treasure it very much and have made good preparations for it. I`m sure no matter what I can past. I`ll get some practice and make some progress from the experience. My topic is Unit3, the 3rd lesson. I divide my teaching plan into 5 parts. PART 1 Analysis of the teaching material ?STATUS AND FUNCTION This lesson is the third of Unit3. it’s a reading text. In this lesson , Indonesia wedding and Greek weddings are introduced, and the ceremony of the weddings are different. In Indonesia weddings, you can’t drink alcohol, and in Greek weddings, guests can throw dishes on the floor and put money on the bride’s wedding dress for good luck. Ss can learn more about the weddings after the text. ?TEACHING AIMS AND DEMANGS Knowledge objects ?To read a text for specific information ?To read a text for new information about weddings ?To practice using modals: have to/not have to, can/can’t, ought to/ought not to ?To discuss the customs about wedding in China ?To write an account of a typical wedding. Teaching Aids: computer and cassette Teaching difficulties: 1?How to grasp the main idea and structure of a passage 2?How to form their idea and express themselves in English ?TEACHING KEY POINTS PART 2 Teaching Methods Task-based teaching method as a guide line is applied to the design of this period. To achieve teaching aims above, I employ different kinds of teaching methods as follows: 1?Skimming scanning method 2?Communicative method, including asking and answering method, discussing method 3?Visual-teaching method including picture-showing and videos. PART 3 Analysis of the Ss and learning methods Ss have learnt English for several years. But their English levels are different from one to the other.
