A Comparative Analysis of Chinese Western Cuisine Culture Abstract From the differences of cuisine culture between China and the West, we can gain some insight into the differences between the entire systems of the two cultures. With the development of globalization, China and the West have interpenetrated each other. We find there are many differences between the Chinese and the Westerners not only of the color of skin, the languages and the behaviors, but also in deep structures of cultures. We will make an inquiry into some aspects of these deep structures of the cultures through the study of the Chinese and the Western cuisine cultures. This study will cover four aspects. Firstly, it is foods and people’s livelihood in China and in the West. This discussion will show that Chinese people and Westerners have different views on food. Food has a deeper influence on Chinese history than it has in the West. Secondly, we will talk about food and politics. We have a good discussion of the relationship between food and politics. As a saying goes, to administrate a country is just like to cook a dish. But in the West, we find no such association. Thirdly, differences also lie in the customs of diet, such as the manners of diet between the Chinese and the Westerners. The Westerners are always quiet when they have a meal, while Chinese people usually like to enliven the atmosphere during the time of diet. In Chinese people’s eyes, everything can be eaten, while there are many kinds of food that Westerners do not eat. The tableware we choose differs too.
