Abstract: PlaPID (Plant Protein Interaction Database) is a searchable database for protein-protein
interactions in plants. It associates high-confidence information derived from published literatures and
several databases. PlaPID aims to provide a reference and upgradeable database through
comprehensive web services for studying plant protein interactions. The PlaPID database is freely
accessible at http://www.PlaPID.org.
Key words: protein-protein interaction; database; interactome; plant; Arabidopsis thaliana
0 Introduction
Briefly introduce the background and object of the research in about 400~600 words, and do
not exceed 800 words. Life deduces as a complex network with information flowing among it.
Proteins, acting as the executive officers of life activities, play a crucial role in this system. Since
biological process can never be performed by individual molecules, protein-protein interactions
(PPIs) react significantly on almost every facet of cellular activities. As high-throughput
technology of PPIs essay develops, a mass of protein interactions for some model organisms
including yeast, worm, fly and human have been detected[1]. These PPI data can be found in
thousands of literatures and public-available databases such as BIND[2], DIP[3], IntAct[4],
MINT[5], and so on. With abundant PPI data, these databases have significantly contributed to
biological studies and pharmaceutical applications these years.
Some species-specific reference databases have been built up. For example, the HPRD[6] and
MIPS[7] databases, which integrate high-quality experimental data of human- and
mammalian-specific PPIs mined manually from literatures, have greatly benefited those who want
to quickly find out relevant links between the pr
