Modeling and Simulation for Logistics Center at Air Cargo Terminal

Abstract: The air cargo industry has grown rapidly in China recently, and the competition between air cargo corporations is
increasingly strong. A simulation model was developed by use of the software eM-PlantTM to study the logistics activities of
the international cargo division of a large air cargo corporation. Besides the description of the model structure and main
modules, issues about model validation and analysis for inputs and outputs were covered. The simulation model was used to
analyze the bottleneck resources in the air cargo operations and evaluate the effectiveness of the existing strategy for resource
allocation. Improvement suggestions were proposed for resource allocation based on the analysis of different scenarios.
