The calculation of eyepiece Eyepiece is an important part of microscope and telescope,so it is with viewing telescope.But eyepiece itself doesnt need designing. When we have to use an eyepiece, we just have to choose the corresponding type according to the technical requirement. i. The eyepiece has been given in the question. We can find it on P299 in the handbook of optical design, as shown in the figure below. In most cases, the exit pupil is on the right. The eyepiece seems to be reversed. So we cant use these datas directly. ii. Reverse the eyepiece given in the handbook. For the eyepiece is reversed, the data is also changed. The original refracting surface( )now is the eighth(), the second( )is the seventh ()and so on. In addition, not only sequence is changed, but also the radius is changed from positive (negative) to negative(positive).The data after being reversed is shown below.
