In this approach, the ottom columns are assumed to e fixed at the top level of the tie eams rather than at the top of the column ases, and the inner forces for the upper structure mem ers are used for their reinforcement. As a result, the design moments near eam ends will decrease and the design moments near column endswill increase. This result is more close to strong column and weak eam of national seismic design code requirement. This approach is simple and more relia le.
