一、教学目标:
1、语言知识目标:立足语言实践活动,在完成阅读和习俗体验的任务过程中掌握新词汇、短语以及文化冲突故事。
2、语言技能目标:阅读能力,尤其是根据已知线索推论故事结局的能力的实践与提高;复述课文能力;口语自由表达能力。
3、情感态度目标:了解世界各国文化,通过对各国风俗习惯的探究与学习,学会尊重别人,入乡随俗,礼貌得体与他人交往;通过课堂活动,学会与同学合作、探究学习。
二、教学重点
1.文本阅读与理解。
2.阅读策略的运用:略读、推断等。
3.通过阅读与礼仪体验,更好地理解文化冲突,实现跨文化交际。
三、教学难点
1.阅读理解的逐渐深入。
2.简单的分析之后根据关键词复述。
3.礼仪体验的组织。
四、教学过程设计
Step1 Pre-reading
1. Revision: Asking questions about Lesson One and Lesson Two as a quiz. (3mins)
We have learnt Xiaojin’s letter to her Aunt Mei about visiting Britain. Now please answer the following questions:
1) What do you think is the most famous thing in Britain?
2) How much tip would you give to the waiter if you go to a British restaurant?
3) What does Xiaojin think of British humor?
And we also have learnt different manners in different cultures.
4) What do people do in open cultures?
5) What do closed cultures mean to you?
Ask students to answer the questions to see which team is the quickest and the most clever.
2. Lead-in: Discussing different manners in differet countries. (5mins)
Ask students to discuss the following situations in groups:
1) Suppose you’re an American, it’s the first time for you came to China. What should you know about Chinese manners, for example, greeting or table manners?
2) Suppose you’re a Chinese student, and it’s the first time for you to go to America, what manners should you learn?
3) There is a famous saying. “Modern man is educated to understand foreign languages and misunderstand foreigners,” Do you agree?
Then ask the students to express their ideas freely.
Step2 While-reading

Ask students to read the five passages as quickly as they can , then tell “T”, “F” or “NI” (No information provided).
