Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Xiangcheng district，Zhangzhou (Zhangzhou 363000,China) Abstract: Objective To understand the infection and prevalence of soil transmitted nematodiasis in Xiangcheng district and provide scientific evidence to make the control countermeansure and evaluate the control effect for soil transmitted nematodiasis. Methods The Kato’s thick smear was used to detect the eggs of soil transmitted nematode and cellophane tape was used to detect the eggs of pinworm for children at age 3 to 12. Bellyworm eggs in soil were tested by modified saturated sodium nitrate floatation method. Determine the living ability of bellyworm eggs by light microscope. Results Total 4812 persons were examined. Soil transmitted nematode infected were 1842 persons, infection rate 38.42%. 560 children were examined pinworm and found 254 persons infected, infection rate 45.36%. the different soil 200 portions were isolated culture, 15 portions were found bellyworm egg, 1 portion found with living life. Conclusion The infection rate of soil transmitted nematode are high in population of Xiangcheng district, the main infection are hookworm and pinworm. Therefore, it is important to strengthen health propaganda and develop preventive measures for prevention soil transmitted nematode infection.
