Aproximaciones al estudio de la literatura hispánica Páginas sueltas, supplied by the professor COURSE DESCRIPTION: Introduction to Hispanic Literature II. Prerequisite SPAN 2002. An introduction to the study and analysis of literary movements and representative works of Hispanic literature from 1800 to the present. Readings and discussion in Spanish. Spanish Majors must take this course concurrently with Spanish 3311. PURPOSE/RATIONALE: The study of Spanish and Hispanic American literature is essential to students of the Spanish language and cultures. The study is also beneficial to native speakers of Spanish from various countries and the United States as a vehicle to understand differences and similarities of these cultures and in general to broaden and extend the student’s multicultural awareness. COURSE GOALS: The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the literary movements and principal authors of Spain and Hispanic America. Since the course and readings are in Spanish, the course also has as a goal to increase reading proficiency in the language and enable the student to write about and discuss literature in Spanish. GENERAL SKILL OBJECTIVES: The student will be able to: a. Reading: follow the main ideas and supporting details of written discourse appropriate to the course content. Comprehension will be increasingly independent of subject matter knowledge. b. Listening: understand main ideas and most supporting detail in extended discourse on topics appropriate to the course content. Student begins to demonstra
