List the steps necessary to properly ground a PLC system. Module Overview: Improper installation practices can lead to premature system failure on a variety of levels. This lesson briefly discusses the proper recommended grounding and installation practices and possible troubleshooting techniques when problems with input power are suspected. REFERENCE HARDWARE MANUAL - APPENDIX D Grounding Guidelines The required grounding configurations for AC and DC powered systems are shown above and on the next page. When making service connections, installers should employ a single point wiring scheme and not daisy-chain power supplies. Each backplane ground connection should have a separate wire returning to the main grounding point, rather than “daisy-chaining” the grounds between the power supplies or mounting plates. The main grounding point is the common connection at the neutral, equipment ground, and earth grounding electrode. Chassis Grounding A chassis ground wire is required for each separate backplane.
