The results show ed that the potassium iodate content of attapul ite had the effects on total number of soil microbe roups, actinomycetes and bacteria quantity, but had no effect on fun i quantity. When the potassium iodate content of attapul ite w as less than 50 m # k - 1 , the total number of soil microbe roups, actinomycetes and fun i quantity were all extremely incr eased. Compared w ith the con- trol, w ith the increasin of potassium iodate content of attapul ite, the increasin r an e of actinomycetes, bacteria and fun i quantity reduced, the pr oportions of actinomycetes and fun i increased w hile that of bac- teria decreased. The biodiversity index of soil micr obe w er e different amon different treatments, it - 1 reached to the hi hest w hen the potassium iodate content w as 100 m # k .
