Method:Forty-one patients w ith chronic persistent hepatitis and 37 patients with chronic act ive hepatit is were allocated randomly into 3 groups:patients of group A received conventional treatment+ Lacteol fort 2 capsules bid; patients in group B re- ceived conventional treatment+ Pe-i Fe-i Kang 3 capsules tid and patients in group C received convent ional treat- ment including Silymarin+ Vit . C+ Vit. B Co. , 2 tablets each tid, but the course of therapy was two month in all 3 groups. Results:Seventy-five of the patients complet ed the treatment and follow-up study. Three patients were lost in follw-up. Significant differeces( P 01 01) existed between 3 groups in the rates of disapperance of abdomi- nal distension, diarrhea and discomfort over hepatic area and rates of normalization of ALT and limulus lysate test .
