Guangdong Paper Industrial Research Institute, Guangzhou 510300, China) Abstract:Environmental sustaina ility assessment is the asis on which ur an sustaina le water system is planned and constructed. A set of environmental sustaina ility indices (ESI) and evaluation procedure ased on the framework of life cycle assessment ( LCA ) were presented. The results indicate that this method helps to determine the potential environmental impacts from more aspects and helps to identify and choose the important ESI, such as recycling of nutrients and recovery of energy. The method discloses the internal relationships of the ur an water system parameters much etter than other methods.
