ABSTRACT By using molecular dynamics simulation the dep osition pro cess of cold spraying
nanoscale Au particles on Au surface and the morphological changes of the surface layers of
the substrate and the particle are describ ed in which the manyb o dy p otential was used to calcu
late the interatomic force b etween the atoms Calculation of the temp eratures showed that the melt
phenomenon o ccured on the lo cal area of the substrate during impact and dep osition The inuence
factors on dep osition pro cess such as incident velo city and the size of the particles were discussed
through calculating the numb er of atoms p enetrating into the substrate and the contact area b etween
the particle and the substrate
