Good morning / afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. The topic, I ’m going to talk about, is The Perfect Copy in Unit3 of Book 5. I plan to talk about the lesson from four parts.
Part I Analysis of the teaching material
1. Status Function
1This is the second period of Unit3 .It is very important for the students (Ss) to know the progress of the advanced technology and different group’s opinions about cloning.
Through this lesson, the students can attain four skills: listening, speaking, reading writing .It can practice the reading strategy, that is, how to understand scientific terms. To get the main idea, scanning and reading the first paragraph and the last paragraph are very useful.
2This lesson is helpful to make the Ss learn the rest of the unit.
3Such a topic is related to cloning , and can raise Ss’ learning interest.
2. Analysis of the students
This text is very newly scientific. The Ss will have a great interest in it.
And Ss have talked about the related topic in Welcome to the unit, all related to cloning.
3. Teaching aims and demands
The teaching aims are established according to the Senior School English Syllabus’ Provision.
1 Knowledge objects
To make Ss know some important words and expressions, such as normal, breakthrough, intention, succeed, interfere with, in general, on the way to, push ahead with, successfully, valuable, desperate, adopt and so on.
To study some common sentence patterns, such as on the one hand, on the other hand..
To enable Ss to finish some exercises.
2 Ability objects
To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening speaking, reading, and writing.
To train the Ss’ ability of working in pairs.
To develop the Ss’ ability of expressing by learning useful structures.
3 Moral objects
To enable the Ss to love science and respect mankind.
To arouse Ss’ interest in science .
