DOI :10.14006/j.jzjgxb.2006.03.016 27 3       Vol.27, No.3 2006 6 Journal of Building Structures June 2006 :1000-6869(2006)03-0120-10 朱碧堂, 杨 敏 (, 200092) :。Winkler (N , αn ), 。 c s , , Winkler k s、 N 、αn, 。, N k c s c s , N c 。 :;;; :TU473.1  :A Calculation of displacement and ultimate uplift capacity of tension piles HU Bitang, YANG Min (Department of Geotechnical Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai 200092, China) Abstract:Tension piles are widely used for resisting uplift loads of underground structures such as deep basements and underground transformer substation, and as foundations for tall buildings subjected to high bending moments.Based on the axial Winkler foundation model, both elastic closed form solutions and elasto-plastic solutions using a unified ultimate skin friction along pile shaft in conjunction with finite difference methods are presented in this paper.Accordingly, a spreadsheet program is developed.Using these solutions and the program, displacement and ultimate uplift capacity of tension piles are examined in detail;effects of modulus of subgrade reaction k sfor the Winkler model, unified ultimate skin friction coefficients N , α, n and excavation depth on pile displacement and ultimate uplift capacity are investigated.It indicates that the values c s of N c and k s have significant influence on the displacement, while uplift capacity of tension piles is dominated by value of N c and overburden stress.
