Green Building Materials and Applied Technology Engineering Research Center, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, China) i Abstract: The boehmite (γ-AlOOH) sol derived from aluminium isopropoxide (Al(OC H ) ) was prepared by the Yoldas 3 7 3 method. The characteristics of the boehmite sol were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infra-red spectrum (FTIR), UV-Vis transmission (UV-Vis) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The results show that the as-prepared boehmite sol is a stable, transparent sol and the sol particles has well crystallinity and fibrillar shape with the size of 60~100 nm.
