It is found that in ost cases, the otion of the rotor syste after theAMB failure is a backandforth oscillation otion with bounces in thebotto half of the clearance circle and a full clearance whirl otion with i pact. T hetransient otion of the rotor syste af ter theAMB failure depends greatly on thevibration of the rotor syste , rotational speed at dropping, and lu brication condition in the contact surfaces of the backup bearing. Changing the lubrication condition in the contact surfaces of thebackup bearing can effectively affect thetransient response of therotor syste after the AMB failure, significantly reduce the possibility of the occurrence of full clearance whirl otion with i pact and full cl
