These laser s were built wit h different DBR grating lengt h s and dep t h s in or der to explore t he effect of t he size of t he DBR on it s coupling coefficient and reflectivit y ,and hence on t he linewidt h of t he la ser di odes. The linewidt h s were mea sured by employing a self het erodyne linewidt h mea surement sy st em . The exp erimen t al and calcul
