While Proper Orthogonal Decompo sition (POD )method is propo sed to decompo se the w ind velocity to solve the above problem and a cable ‐stay ed bridge w as used to investigate the contribution of eff ective model to bridge buff eting response .T he result show ed that not all f requency ranges of w ind velocity spectrum contributed to the response w hich had relationship w ith both structural self ‐vibration mode and turbulence eff ective mode coefficient .
