Turbulent Wind Velocity Spectrum Analysis Approach Based
on Proper Orthogonal Decomposition

Abstract :T he emergence of large‐span bridge and ex treme w eather attract much more attention of
researchers on the bridge buff eting problem .One of the most important f actors that aff ect bridge buff eting
response is w ind velocity spectrum .In the precious investigations ,w ind velocity of various f requency has
impact on the bridge buff eting response . While Proper Orthogonal Decompo sition (POD )method is
propo sed to decompo se the w ind velocity to solve the above problem and a cable ‐stay ed bridge w as used to
investigate the contribution of eff ective model to bridge buff eting response .T he result show ed that not all
f requency ranges of w ind velocity spectrum contributed to the response w hich had relationship w ith both
structural self ‐vibration mode and turbulence eff ective mode coefficient .
