Effect of cooling rate on microstructure and properties of
Ti-5.8Al-3Mo-1Cr-2Sn-2Zr-1V-0.15Si alloy

Abstract: The effect of cooling rate after solution treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of
Ti-5.8Al-3Mo-1Cr-2Sn-2Zr-1V-0.15Si alloy was studied by the OM, SEM and TEM. It is found that as the cooling rate
decreases, the β stabilizers increase and the αstabilizers decrease in the β phase, thus the precipitation of second αphase
becomes difficult during sequent aging, and the precipitated second α phase becomes small. At the same time, the
lamellar of primary αbecomes coarse, and the amount of β phase decreases. The effect of cooling rate on the mechanical
properties lies in the change of the amount and pattern of primary αphase, secondary αphase and βphase.
