Situational writing If you are a manager of purchasing department who intends to buy a large amount of electric bikes from ABC company, what are you supposed to write in an inquiry letter, either in a general way or a specific way? Try to write an inquiry letter in 150 words, which should at least contain the main body parts of a business letter. (20 mins.) Buying apples Customer: Do you have Yantai apples here? Seller: Yes! Plenty of! Do you want some? Customer: How much is it? Seller: 6 yuan for a kilo. Customer: That’s too much! 5 yuan for a kilo? Seller: 5.5 yuan. Customer: Deal! I’ll take 3 kilos! Reply in business is a response by a perspective seller on the questions or requests of a perspective buyer, which may include providing the catalogue, pricelist, samples and etc.. that the buyer asks for, in order to promote a successful business. Sample of reply letters Begin the reply by repeating the date and the inquiry. Give a full answer to the inquiry. --- provide product catalogue and price list; --- emphasize competitiveness of products; --- declare price, discount, terms of payment, delivery date, etc.. --- if you cannot do as requested, try to offer a substitute.
