Multiple eNodeBs constitute an Evolved Radio Access Network (eRAN) system. The Evolved Packet Core (EPC) consists of MMEs and S-GWs or P-GWs. The MME performs mobility management and session management of UEs. The P-GW processes IP data services, including IP address allocation and billing. The OM includes the configuration management, fault management, performance management, and security management. In signaling processing, the E-UTRAN signaling is processed, which involves the air interface signaling, S1 interface signaling, and X2 interface signaling. Transport Subsystem The transport subsystem provides ports for data communication between the eNodeB and the MME/S-GW. It also provides the OM channel for connection to the Operation and Maintenance Center (OMC).
