FAMILY TENSION, BASIC CAUSE OF CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR David Abrahamsen Dr. Abrahamsen obtained his medical degree at the University of Oslo, Norway. He specialized in psychiatry and later worked as psychiatrist with Oslos Depart- ment of Justice. He is at present a Research Associate at Columbia University, Director of the Research Project on Sexual Aberrations for the State of New York and Chairman of the ColtLmbia University Forum for the Study and Prevention of Crime. He is author of Crime and the Human Mind and other books and numer- ous articles-EDToa. . In 1944 Columbia University, supported by funds from the Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation, sponsored a research project to investigate the psychosomatic factors in antisocial behavior. The project lasted four years and revealed that when criminal tendencies exist, unwholesome conditions within the home and intense physical
