Core modules Sector industry analysisYou develop analytical skills to gain an awareness of management issues facing the leisure industry. This module analyses the environment in which organisations in the tourism, hospitality and events industries operate. You consider the internal and external business environments facing organisations and demonstrate an awareness of the functional constraints, relationships, management processes and analyse the competitive environment. MarketingWe introduce you to a range of advanced marketing concepts, building on a basic understanding of marketing. You develop an understanding of consumer behaviour and advanced market segmentation techniques to gain an awareness of the links between advanced marketing concepts and the building of relationships with customers and consumers to achieve long term success. Events venues and facilitiesThis module will develop your skills and knowledge to strategically manage a range of resources and financial costs. You analyse the management of purpose, people, process, performance and place while investigating the techniques to achieve economy, efficiency and effectiveness. Topics covered may include crowd management, venue promotion and public relations, space management and programming. Managing peopleYou gain awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding the management of people. You explore the context of employment, including labour markets, motivation to work and employee diversity as well as specific human resource management and reward. You will be encouraged to take a strategic focus to your work and explore current trends and issues and their impact on your own sector. Events project managementTheories and tools available to project managers will be studied and then applied to the development of an event simulation.
