Chinese press neologisms refer to the uniqueness of Chinese items used in newspapers and magazines, and of course, they contain the connotation of Chinese culture. With the wide spread of Chinese culture to the world, how can they be understood and accepted by foreigners accurately in translation? This paper consists of three parts. PartⅠbriefly introduces the principles of foreignization and domestication and their deveopments . In part Ⅱ,the author mainly analyzes the phnomenona of the application of foreignalization and demestication to Chinese press neologisms and its developments.In part Ⅲ, five specific methods of translating the Chinese press neologisms are suggested, and the author gives many examples to explain them respectively, these methods are back translation, transliteration, literal translation, free translation, interpretation and literal translation plus interpretation. In different cases, the translators could resort to different methods so as to come up with a good translation. In the end, the author points out that the translation of Chinese press neologisms is a hard job. However, it is believed that as long as the translators develop their professional knowledge and raise their translation level constantly, the translation will become a relatively easy work.
