Unit 1 looking for a job
Teaching objectives:
1,teach Ss useful words about seeking jobs and having interviews and help them gain knowledge of what they should do and should not do when they are looking for a job.
2. Help Ss to well comprehend the two texts and learn to use the important words and phrases and sentence patterns and complete the tasks and exercises in this unit.
3. Help Ss review some useful suffixes such as “-able”,”-ant”,”-ive”,
“-ic”, ”-ical” and English grammar( non-finite verb(1) ).
4. Teach Ss how to write an Application letter in English.
Class presentation:
Section A Listening and Speaking
Part1 What are important things in an interview?
Ask Ss to tick off the things which you think are important in an interview and state their reasons.
Part2 May I help you, sir?
Listen to four conversations and tell what the speakers are talking about, then match each of the conversations with its topic in Column B.
Part 3 How to write a resume?
Listen to the conversation and put the following sentences in proper order.
Part 4 Jenny chose scientific subjects.
Listen to a passage and complete the answers.
Part5 Job-seeking is more difficult.
Listen to the passage three times and complete each blank with a word or a short phrase that you hear.
Part 6. Pair work or group work and presentation.
Role Play
Wang Ming and Li Wei are going to have a job interview. They are talking about how to prepare for the interview and about their qualifications. Make a conversation and present it to the class.
