(Big picture, scientific question, personal motivation of the authors) Are the underlying assumptions correct? Are the arguments balanced (unbiased)? What did the authors actually demonstrate? (This comes from your reading of the results) 4. Were the data/results presented in a clear fashion? (Consider graphs in particular) * * Asking Questions While Reading 5. What did they claim to demonstrate? (This comes from what they say in the discussion) 6. Were their claims convincing? (You evaluate their results and their claims in the discussion. Do you agree with them?) 7. What major questions (if any) are raised by their results? 8. What further experiments/theory/numerical modeling (if any) are/is needed to clarify these points?
