20世纪美国桂冠律师Clarence Darrow (1857 – 1938) born in Farmdale In 1894,he began what would be his primary career for the next 20 He acted professionally in many cases against monopolies; he pleaded for the Negro defendants in the Scottsboro trial (1932). He was also the president of the American League to abolish Capital Punishment. Darrow’s most famous criminal trial was the 1924 Leopold-Leob case, in which two Chicago boys had wantonly murdered a youngster. For the only time in his career Darrow insisted that his clients claim guilty, then turned his attention to saving them from the death penalty. He was successful in this, partly because he was able to introduce a great deal of psychiatric testimony supporting his theories of the influences upon individual acts. In the Scopes trial, Darrow’s defense, and particularly his cross-examination of William J.
