ABSTRACT
In this paper, a kind of geopolymer blocks was prepared by slag, sand and steel slag as main raw materials through the compression method to molding. The geopolymer, which can consume a lot of waste, preparation process does not require high temperature calcination, emits virtually no CO2, is a typical green building materials. However, the most important factor of the restriction on apply of geopolymer material is efflorescence problem. Therefore, it is very crucial that we probe the measures about efflorescence suppressed of geopolymer material.
Orthogonal test and univariate variables method were used in this paper, Study on the fly ash and zeolite powder on steel / slag based geopolymer efflorescence, mechanical properties and durability improvement were conducted. The results show that, 23.3% steel slag, 15% fly ash, 23.3% pulverized blast furnace slag, 33.3% sand,5% zeolite powder 10% water and activator with 5% NaOH is the optimum formula of the raw materials for the geopolymer. The optimal molding pressure is 20MPa and it should be cured in the curing room.In this ratio, compared to a single mix with 15% fly ash, pH value of the specimen leaching solution (11.31) samples decrease by 1.7% .Compared to a single mix with 15% fly ash, carbonate ion concentration is (1105.7mg/L) ,it was reduced by 23.8%. ,which have a greatest extent efflorescence inhibition of geopolymer.Its 28d compressive strength were best, up to 152MPa. The water and alkali resistance of the samples is better. Softening coefficient is 0.89.Water absorption rate for 1d is 2.95%. When it soaks for 7 days at 0.5wt%, 1wt%, 3wt% NaOH solution,its mass loss rate is 1.31%, 1.44%, 1.24% respectly .And its compressive strength is not only not reduced but increased to some extent. It has a better alkali resistance.
