life(1819-1892) Walt Whitman was born on May 31, 1819 in Long Island长岛。His family is a working-class. At age eleven Whitman concluded formal schooling. He then sought employment for further income for his family; He only had five years of schooling. During the civil war, whitman worked as a volunteer nurse. Whitman died in 1892 because of his bad health. He was buried in Harleigh（哈利公墓）.
