1. What is project? And What are project attributes?
A project is “a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result.”
项目就是“为创造一件独特的产品、一项服务或者一种结果而进行的零时性努力”
A planned undertaking of related activities to reach an objective that has a beginning and an end.
Attributes:
1.Has a unique purpose 2.Is temporary-Has a beginning and end
3.Is developed using progressive elaboration 4.Require resources, often from various areas 5.Should have a primary sponsor and/or customer 6. The project sponsor usually provides the direction and funding for the project 7.Involve uncertainty
2. What is project management? And what are 9 knowledge areas?
Project management is “the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities in order to meet project requirements”.
9 Knowledge areas describe the key competencies that project managers must develop
4 core knowledge areas lead to specific project objectives (scope, time, cost, and quality)
4 facilitating knowledge areas are the means through which the project objectives are achieved
(human resources, communication, risk, and procurement management)
1 knowledge area (project integration management) affects and is affected by all of the other knowledge areas
3. Compare program and project.
A project is “a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result.”
Program: “A group of related projects managed in a coordinated way to obtain benefits and control not available from managing them individually.”
Project managers work with project sponsors, project teams, and other people involved in projects to meet project goals.
Program managers oversee programs and often act as bosses for project managers.
