A profile condition is a spatially varying boundary condition Profiles use a grid-grid interpolation routine to create profile of temperature or velocity components on openings or walls Uses Include: Zoom in/Zoom out solutions Applying a fully developed channel profile Calculate the developed profile in a simple model of wind tunnel section without equipment under test Apply to model with equipment Reduces size of upstream section needed Reduces mesh Optimizes model runtime and efficiency Increases accuracy Profiles of variables can be applied to both Walls and Openings Openings Pressure Temperature X, Y, Z, velocity components Walls Outside heat flux Outside temperature External heat transfer coefficient Reference temperature fixed Sources Profiles of heat flux per unit area Profiles are automatically created if you use the zoom-in model creation feature. Profiles can be written from any post-processing contour plot Object face, plane cut, etc… Under Parameters option to “Save Profile” Saves point co-ordinates and value To open the zoom-in panel, go to main menu/ Post/ create zoom-in model Select location of bounding box white bold outline with the mouse, or enter the co-ordinates, or snap using the “Select” button Specify the type of boundary condition on each side – inflow/ outflow/ wall Icepak creates a new project consisting of objects within the zoom-in box - overlapping objects can either be re-sized to fit, or excluded from the zoom-in model Profiles of velocity, pressure and temperature are automatically generated Different sets of variables are profiled, depending on the type of boundary condition specified Inflow boundary: Free opening in zoom-in model variables - ux, uy, uz, T components of velocity, temperature Outflow Free opening in zoom-in model variables - P, T static pressure, temperature Wall Stationary wall in zoom-in model variables - T Note: If boundary openings are specified in the zoom-in model at least one should be o
