To remind you: Conclusion – Bringing the Author’s Arguments Together Agreement that globalization is a reality That it has long historical roots That its development has been uneven and did not occur in a straight line That that development has occurred in the form of successive waves or phases. Conclusion – Bringing the Author’s Arguments Together They agree that globalization is all encompassing in all aspects –ideological/conceptually/perceptually, political, economic, socially, culturally. Its influence is especially great economically and culturally, which are in many ways interconnected. Conclusion – Bringing the Author’s Arguments Together Some disagreement whether globalization began during prehistoric times via human migration from Africa to throughout the world. They all agree that globalization links the local with the global and that localism may have been transformed by globalization but it is not dead. Conclusion – Bringing the Author’s Arguments Together Osterhammel Petersson date globalization as beginning during the mid -18th Stearns posits that the roots of globalization were planted c 1000 BCE; it began to flourish during the late C19th; and, it fully blossomed after World War II (i.e., 1945) Conclusion – Bringing the Author’s Arguments Together Steger suggests that globalization began when homo sapiens left Africa to overspread the rest of the world. Conclusion – Bringing the Author’s Arguments Together They all agree that globalization entered its current contemporary wave or phase during the 1970s (when the Osterhammel Petersson study ends).
