Teaching Objectives:
1. Help students to familiarize with how to make predictions of the content, outline and writing devices of a new passage based on its title.
2. Help students to get familiar with the structure of the type of pleading passage.
3. Help students to know and make use of the language points, especially expressions, learned from the text.

3. Help students to grasp some key words, expressions and sentence patterns for expressing ideas on related topics.

Procedures
Stage 1: pre-teaching activities
Step 1: design some activities to activate students’ background knowledge related to the passage.

Stage 2: While-teaching activities—structure and writing device analysis
Step 1: Ask students to read Paras. 1-2 quickly for the general idea and how the general idea is conveyed; ask students to read Para. 3 quickly for the general idea; ask students to read Paras. 4-10 quickly for the general idea and writing devices used in these paragraphs; ask students to read Para. 11 quickly for the general idea.
Step 2: Ask students to summarize the passage by filling blanks with proper words and phrases based on Step 1.
