Since the year 2006, the volume of Chinas foreign exchange reserves has been the largest in the world.By the end of the year 2011, Chinas foreign exchange reserves had amounted at 31811.48 billion U.S. dollars. After Chinas reform and opening-up policy, being influenced by the trade surplus, FDI surplus and the related systems, Chinas foreign exchange reserves have been changing in phases. In the first period, they are not enough. In the second period, they are moderate whereas in the last period, they are excessive and they increase fast. The redundant reserves will be benefit to the economy, meet the demand of purchasing foreign goods, keep the reputation of China and avoid financial risks. However, the overdue reserves may lead to economic bubble, instable economy as well as opportunity cost. This essay will demonstrate the current Chinese foreign exchange reserve and present the situation of the investment. And after analysing the causes of the formation of present situation, it will point out some issues we are confronting with.Corresponding to the low foreign exchange reserve yields,the scale of foreign exchange reserves is too much large.The rapid expansion of Chinas foreign exchange reserves has forced the opportunity costs of holding foreign exchange reserve to become higher and the inequality of yield a
