To all children in Afghanistan. 追 Novel the kite runner from the first-person perspective, tells the story of an Afghan immigrants in America boys childhood memories of childhood fault and his adult soul redemption process. On one level, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is the story of two boys in Afghanistan and Afghan immigrants in America. It is a story set in a culture that has become of increasing interest to Americans since the September 11, 2001 attacks. On this level, it provides a good way for people to learn more about Afghan history and culture in the context of story. THE KITE RUNNER The Kite Runner looks at how the main character, Amir, deals with a secret in his past and how that secret shaped who he became. It tells of Amirs childhood friendship with Hassan, his relationship with his father and growing up in a privileged place in society. I was drawn in by Amirs voice. I sympathized with him, cheered for him and felt angry with him at different points. Similarly, I became attached to Hassan and his father. The characters became real to me, and it was difficult for me to put the book down and leave their world. When events shift to the present day, Amir is played by the enormously appealing Khalid Abdalla, who infuses an otherwise unsympathetic character with warmth. The Kite Runner succumbs to some contrivance in its third act, when Amirs difficult relationship with his overbearing father comes melodramatically into play. But by then the audience is too invested in the characters to care. For all the pain and loss that The Kite Runner depicts, it is still a film of exhilarating, redemptive humanity, conveying an enduring sense of hope. -- Ann Hornaday (Dec. 14, 2007) The kite is a symbol.
