Complaint Report on Food Service In November and December, the Student Affairs Office received several complaints from students, reporting minor sickness after they had meals in the cafeteria. The office immediately made an investigation and found some problems which may have caused sickness. The fall semester will come to an end in two weeks. The School has to do everything to solve the problems and inform the students of the changes before they leave for the vacation. Problems in the Cafeteria In November and December last year, the office received 5 reports from different students, who complained that they had stomach pains, diarrhea, or other digesting problems after having meals in cafeteria. One of them put up a complaint on the BBS and received many responses, saying they would go to other places to eat. We immediately formed two teams, one of which checked the kitchen regularly and the other conducted a survey on campus. The first team had meals in the cafeteria for 7 days in a row and constantly went to the kitchen to see how cooks prepared food. The second designed questionnaires collecting students?comments on the cafeteria. The result was not as bad as we had expected. But the School should do something before it becomes a real problem. The food in the cafeteria was good and well prepared, but we found some problems that may have caused the sickness. The survey concluded that most of the students surveyed responded positively, but they were concerned about food safety. The problems we summarized are as follows: The leftovers were put on the counters without being covered. Even though it is winter, something like dust may fall on it. New employees need training urgently. For example, some didn抰 wash their hands before serving at the counter. Some didn抰 wear hatces and masks when cooking. Uncooke
