Structural Analysis
Part 1
(1-8) beginning part, describes and recounts two typical events concerning the chief character’s unusual behavior and the writer’s response to it.

(9-23) body part, shows the writer’s love and resentment for her daughter.

(24) ending, makes it quite clear that the writer must live her own life instead of satisfying her daughter’s greatest wish.

I. Analysis
Paragraph 1-8 Analysis
These paragraphs, the beginning part of the narrative, describe and vividly recount two typical events concerning the chief characters unusual behavior and the writers response to it. For the sake of vivid effect, dynamic verbs and metaphorical expressions are employed. From these paragraphs, we can see sudden changes in the chief characters behavior and in the writers attitude towards her daughter.
Paragraph 9-23 Analysis
These paragraphs, as the body of the narrative, show the writers love and resentment for her daughter. Also, the writer vividly describes how her daughters illness originated, how she has been suffering from it, and how she frequently experiences mood swings.
