The Anglo-Saxons(446-871) In the mid-5th century, the tribes of Angles, Saxons and Jutes (Anglo-Saxon) migrated to England from western denmark, and the northwest coast of Germany. Thus began the Anglo-Saxon period. The Viking and Danish Invasions Late 8th century the Danes came to invade England and were repulsed and gradually all the kingdoms in England were united into one. In early 11th century the Danes ruled over England for a quarter of a century. The Norman conquest and rule(1066-1381) In 1066, Normans from Normandy in France expulsed the Danes and invade England. Then William the duke of Normandy claimed the succession to the English Throne. They conquered the whole of England.
