Chapter 8 Sensory Organs Objectives I. Genearal Discription of Senses After completing this chapter, you should be able to: define the term “sensation,” and distinguish between the general senses and the special senses; define the term sensory receptor and classify them according to stimulus type; name the three groups of somatic senses; describe the location of the receptors for tactile sensations, thermal sensations and pain; identify the proprioceptive receptors. II.
