Teaching Plan for Unit Five Text B (Book 4) Objectives f. learn how to do text structure analysis and how to analyze the denotation and connotation (text b) II. Suggested Teaching Plan (10 Periods in Total) Preview + Text A (5 Periods) Text B (3 Periods) Listening Speaking (2 Periods) Suggested Time and Teaching Plan for Unit One Time Content Plan 0.5 periods Preview The teacher begins with the Preview so make sure that the students have some idea of what this unit is all about. After that, the teacher organize the pre-reading activities as follows: Pre-reading activities Go through the new words; Have the students listen to the recording once or twice and finish the exercise; Check the answers to the exercise 4.5 periods Text A text-related exercises The teacher lets the students answer the text-related questions, helps them identify the main idea of each paragraph and analyzes some difficult sentences and some language points. (3.5--4 Periods) The teacher guides the students through the exercises, focusing on certain items or leaving some exercises as the students’ homework, according to the students’ different levels of English. (0.5—1 Period ) 3 periods Text B text-related exercises The teacher guides the students to finish the exercises following Text B and teaches them the relevant information about denotation and connotation. (1 period) The teacher helps student identify the main idea of each paragraph and analyzes some difficult sentences and some language points.
