Unit 3 Travel journal
I.Teaching aims and demands:
1.Skill goals:
Describe a journey.
Revise means of transportation.
The Present Progressive Tense expresses futurity.
II.Function sentence patterns---Good wishes and farewells
Have a nice/ good time. Have a nice/good time.
Tare care. Good luck on your journey.
Say “ hello” to … Write to me.
Give my love / best wishes to … Have fun.
III.The analysis of the teaching material:
1. Warming-up: Let students know that travel is very common in modern society. Ask them to discuss the fares to get to one place for different kinds of transport. To allow students to examine their attitudes to various forms of travel:whether by bus,train,ship or airplane.By asking them to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages for each kind of travel,they are better able to make sensible choices for themselves when they begin to travel on their own.
2. The purpose of activity 2 is to use the information gained in a realitic situation .This time it uses the information on different forms of travel to plan a holiday.On their own and for a few minutes each student should think of a place they would like to go for a holiday.They should think about the dates,length of stay,cost,etc according to the questions included in the textbook.let them get into pairs and each should ask the others the questions in the textbook.(using some founction sentences indicately)
3.Beacause later we should study a travel journal of Mekong river.so look at the map and I want to introduce some information about the Mekong river.It is a preparation for the next class.It is a good beginning ti let the student to learn more back ground information.
