It can remove soluble and colloidal state from sewage to biochemical organic matter and suspended solids which can be adsorbed by activated sludge and some other substances.Activated sludge process is the main method of biological wastewater treatment which is based on activated sludge.Zoogloea is an important part of activated sludge. This paper analyzes the role of zoogloea in wastewater treatment and the future research direction.
