(Method) Forty-eight crossed-bred (Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshine) pigs, weighing an average of 70 kg, were randomly assigned to two dietary treatments with three replicates and eight pigs with each pen. The groups received the same basal diet supplemented with 0, 0.25% CMH respectively. The feeding trial lasted for 30 days. (Result) The results showed that 1) There was no effect of CMH on daily gain (ADG) (P0.05). CMH raised the loin eye area (LEA) significantly (P0.05); 2) There were no significant effect on percentage of dissected lean of carcass (PDL), percentage of dissected fat (PDF), mean backfat depth and other carcass-related index (P0.05). CMH increased longissmus dorsi ratio significantly (P0.05) and no effects on other skeletal muscle; 3)Adding CMH to diet could decrease drip loss and lactic acid, and increase pH value of longissimus and semimembransus at 24 h postmortem. (Conclusion) These results indicated that CMH could decrease meat drip loss at postmortem and improve meat quality through decreasing lactic acid content and increasing pH value of muscle.
