THE CARROT, THE EGGAND THECOFFEE BEAN胡萝卜、鸡蛋和咖啡豆 Put three pots of water over the fire. 放置三锅水于火上 * In the first pot, put some carrots. 第一锅水里，放胡萝卜进去 In the second pot, put some eggs. 第二锅水里，放鸡蛋进去 In the third pot, put some coffee beans that have been grounded into coffee powder. 第三锅水里，放磨成粉的咖啡豆进去 Boil all three pots for 15 minutes. Take out what you put in. 分别煮15分钟后，把放进去的 东西拿出来。 The carrots went in hard. They are now soft. 胡萝卜放进去的时候是硬的 现在变软了 The eggs went in soft inside. Now they are hard inside. 鸡蛋放进去时里面是软的 现在里面变成硬的了 But the water has the colour and the wonderful smell of coffee. 水却变成咖啡的颜色， 并且有咖啡的极好香味 The coffee powder has disappeared. 咖啡粉不见了 Now think about life. 现在想一想生活 Life is not always easy. 生活不是总那么容易的 Life is not always comfortable. 生活不会总是很舒适的 Sometimes life is very hard. 有时生活是很艰难的 We work very hard but get few results. What happens when we face difficulties? 我们努力工作却回报很少 当我们面对困难的时候又会是怎样呢？ Things don’t happen like we wish. 事情不是我们想象中那样发生 People don’t treat us like we hope. 人们也没有象我们所期待的那样对待我们 Now think about the pots. 现在想想这些锅 The boiling water is like the problems of life. 沸水就象生活中的难题 We can be like the carrots. 我们可能象胡萝卜那样 We go in tough and strong. 进去时很强硬 We come out soft and weak. 出来变得很软弱 We get very tired. We lose hope. We give up. 我们变得很疲惫 我们丧失了希望 我们放弃了 There is no more fighting spirit. 不再有战斗力 Don’t be like the carrots! 不要象胡萝卜那样！ We can be like the eggs. 我们可能象鸡蛋那样 We start with a soft and sensitive heart. 我们起初有一颗温柔而敏感的心 We end up very hard and unfeeling inside. 最后却变得冷酷无情 We hate others.
